With an appetite for the original, our work has been an inspiration for both audiences and the artists with whom we collaborate. Throughout the decades actors, directors, designers - and most importantly the public - have been moved by our ground-breaking productions.
We want to continue to do what we do best, at the highest level... always taking risks with our work and ensuring that, in whatever language, we can produce world-class theatre.
That work - and the unique process in which we make it - has been a rich training ground for emerging artists. Cheek by Jowl is responsible for nurturing some amazing emerging talent (Michael Sheen, Tom Hiddleston, Olivia Williams, Matthew Macfadyen and Adrian Lester are amongst the names that started their careers with us).
We want to keep doing this work – nurturing artists and providing more for our audiences. With the generous help of our donors, we created an online archive, in order to share nearly forty years of company history with audiences, academics, artists and students. We continue to add to this with each new production, building a unique insight into the process of each Cheek by Jowl production.
But we still need your help to keep doing our work. We pride ourselves on offering the best conditions possible for work to be created, and artists developed. We want to continue to put the resources needed into the work and feel that, with the changes ahead for the UK’s relationship with Europe, our international performances and touring programme have never been more necessary. To keep our work going we need to raise £50,000 a year.
